How we are paid
On receiving an enquiry we invite a prospective client to come to our offices for an initial meeting to establish whether we are able to help with someone's needs and objectives, and secondly to discuss how we would be paid for our work should we be asked to proceed. There is no charge for this preliminary meeting and no obligation on either side - if we can't add value we will tell you, and if there's a simple solution we will also tell you.
We are fee-based, and will let you know the cost of any specific project. In general we charge a specific fee for a personalised financial plan, 1% to arrange & execute a portfolio investments and 1% pa as the investment management fee. This allows us to seek out and negotiate the lowest cost terms for investments, for example by negotiating terms for the purchase of corporate bonds, tracker funds, ETFs or shares through our or your preferred stockbroker.
Because we are not dependent on commissions we are able to use the lowest cost contracts and investments that are available, giving the you the added financial benefit. It also means that it is clear what you pay us, and when. This does not make our service expensive, however, and our work is not limited to the financially blessed.
Although we base our charges on time and complexity, we do not usually charge by the hour – normally we agree a fixed amount with clients, both for planning work and then for managing investments.
Whether we take our remuneration by way of commission or fees will be a matter of discussion and agreement, and no charges for fees will be made without prior notification in writing.

For mortgage advice you can choose how we are paid: we normally charge a fee of £300 and may or may not receive payment from the lender.
Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
